My Weekly Grocery List: Fruits and Vegetables

Having a well stocked and healthy fridge is one of the small, happy pleasures in my life. My grocery list stays basically the same from week to week. Unless I'm testing out unique recipes from a cookbook or planning a special meal, I always shop for staple items I know I can create well balanced meals with.  Having on hand a variety of fruits and vegetables helps me avoid scrambling for unhealthy snacks or grabbing fast food [though we definitely do every now and again!]. 

I love to cook, but I grew up a picky eater and I still have my little eccentricities when it comes to what I'll eat. It's taken me much of my life to figure out what produce I genuinely enjoy and this list is packed with my favorites!


  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Zucchini
  • Mushrooms [shiitake or cremini]
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Tomatoes
  • Yellow Onion

This weekend we picked up all our groceries at Whole Foods. If you're strategic about what you buy and focus on produce, Whole Foods is actually not overpriced. [but really!] Plus, you often have the option to choose organic and/or ethically sourced items, which is always a bonus. I don't have any recipes planned, but I've got plenty of healthy options to fill up on this week!
