Quiet Summers, Cocktail Shoots and Getting Away

Still in the thick of summer, but I'm ready for cooler weather [by Atlanta standards] and the days when everyone I know is back in town. Summer in Atlanta typically stays quiet for me, spent mostly with a handful of friends. Between traveling and work [no true vacation days for the self employed!], I keep a fairly low profile.  Whenever I'm sharing food photos, I'm mostly just cooking for one or two, and cocktail parties like the one pictured below are merely styled for photo shoots, no parties actually to be had.  Lovely as photo shoots are, and the drinks delicious as ever [though don't worry, I didn't drink ALL of these on my own!], I'm ready to have some fun and get out of my little self made bubble. Tomorrow I'm headed to New Orleans to do just that. My good friend recently moved there, and even though I've been before, I feel like each time I visit, it's a completely different experience, and very much dependent on who I'm with. This trip I'm expecting a good bit of foodie time and cocktail drinking [can never get enough of either!] and a fun trip catching up with an old friend [and watching the Olympics- we both love us some swimming!]! I'm sure I'll share plenty of photos here [po boys and beignets please!]. Maybe when I get back I'll have an actual cocktail party [something that looks a bit like this!].
